Toray PPS Fibre
Product Description:
TORCON™ PPS fibre is a high performance fibre with excellent properties of heat resistance, chemical resistance, hydrolysis resistance and flame retardancy. It has a melting point of 285 degrees and can be used continuously at 190 degrees. It is also resistant to high temperature hydrolysis, acids and alkalis, and organic solvents. It is used in a wide range of applications, including bag filters. Toray promotes the fibre not only in the form of yarns and staple fibres, but also in the form of advanced products such as fabrics, textiles and nonwovens. It is favoured in a variety of applications where heat resistance and chemical resistance are required.
Material properties:
1. Excellent textile processability
The fibre has excellent textile processing properties. The amount of boiling water shrinkage is related to the process conditions used to prepare the fibre and can be low (0-5%) or high (15%-25%). The moisture absorption rate is low, mainly due to the low hygroscopicity of the fibre surface, the melting point of 285 ℃ is higher than the current industrial production of other melt spun fibres.
2. Good chemical stability
Resistant to almost all acids below 190℃ and very stable in strong alkalis and organic solvents. Excellent chemical stability, second only to PTFE fibre. At high temperatures, placed in various inorganic reagents for a week after the original tensile strength can be maintained.
3. Excellent thermal stability
Its melting point is 285 ℃, the long-term maximum service temperature is 190 ℃, with excellent high temperature resistance, in the dry environment of 190 ℃, after 100,000 hours the strength retention rate is still over 50%. Its strength retention rate is 60% at 200℃ and about 40% at 250℃. Its elongation at break remains essentially unchanged below 250℃.
4. Flame resistance
The L.O.1 (Limit Oxygen Resistance Index) reaches 34. Although combustion occurs when it is placed in a flame, once the flame is removed, the combustion will stop immediately.
5. Hydrolysis resistance
It has excellent hydrolysis resistance in a steam environment, and has a strength retention rate of more than 90% after treatment at 160℃.
6.Oil resistance
Compatible with various ATF oils and resistant to strong acids and alkalis.
Application areas:
Oil-resistant PPS casing and tying wire for automobile drive oil-cooled motors; diaphragm for hydrogen production; high-temperature dust removal filtration device for thermal power plants, coal-fired boilers, waste incinerators, etc.; it can also be used for high-performance industrial filter cloths and anticorrosion filter cloths.
